A year after Disney and Sony's agreement over Spider-Man hit a brick wall, Tom Holland has reportedly committed to both studios for a very long time.
The third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to a close last summer. Not via Avengers: Endgame, but after the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The second standalone Spidey film in the franchise is supposed to be a bridge between phases three and four. A chapter that eases fans into a world where Iron Man and Captain America will no longer lead the way.
Shortly after the release of Far From Home, that future was thrown into jeopardy. Sony owns the rights to the on-screen Spider-Man character and has a deal with Disney that allows Tom Holland's take on the web-slinger to appear in the MCU. However, when that deal came to an end, neither side could settle on a new one that suited all parties.
That impasse was eventually resolved and Spider-Man will continue to be a part of the MCU. A huge relief to a lot of fans we're sure considering the cliffhanger ending to Far From Home. A third standalone Spidey film is already in the works, and according to We Got This Covered, there's a lot more to come.
Six more MCU movies featuring Spider-Man, at the very least, according to the site's source. That's the same source that correctly revealed a She-Hulk series will be coming to Disney+, and that Taskmaster would be the primary antagonist in Black Widow. If that same source is right again, Holland will appear in three more Spider-Man movies after no.3, and also appear in three other MCU movies.
If we were to hazard a guess at the MCU movies Disney wants Holland for, we'd say it would be the next two Avengers flicks and Dr. Strange 2. A lot is being made of the Strange sequel and it sounds like it could be a pivotal moment in the MCU journey. As for what will become of Spidey after that, there's a rumor Holland won't be done with Marvel's most-famous hero until he has appeared in nine different Spidey movies.
